It’s inspired by the time I’ve spent living in Japan and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eeverything that’s come with it.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOne year ago, I made the decision to move to Japan. I didn’t know what to expect, and honestly, I\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e didn’t have much of a plan. But with the help of friends and the Kendama community, I was \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eable to find my place, adapt to life here, and learn a lot along the way.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSince then, I’ve spent nearly every weekend on the road—\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e63 trips to 36 cities across 3 continents\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e.\u003c\/strong\u003e I’ve joined Kendama events all over Japan and beyond. I wanted to represent that \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ejourney on the Ken, so I decided to laser engrave the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eShinkansen rail network\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. To me, the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eShinkansen stands for movement, discovery, and all the places this Kendama has taken me.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYou’ll also see the name \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e真元 (Masamoto)\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e on the Ken. The story behind it goes back years. A \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJapanese friend in Germany once told me I should pick a Japanese name, since “Gregor” can \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ebe hard to pronounce. At the time, I was reading a novel about a fictional sword master named M\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003easamoto Takeshi\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. I liked what the character stood for, so I went with that name. Later on, my \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003efriend Ibuki helped me write it in kanji: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e真元\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. Since then, I’ve used it as an alias.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003etama\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e design is all about playability—but it’s also a reflection of the moments I’ve come to \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eappreciate in Japan. The color fade is inspired by the sunsets I love watching here. And if you \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003elook from above, you’ll notice a red dot on white—like the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eJapanese flag\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis mod means a lot to me. It’s not just a Kendama—it’s a collection of memories, people, and p\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003elaces that have shaped my life over the past year.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTo everyone who’s supported me along the way: thank you.
